A Grayton Beach Afternoon | This is Why I Take My “Big” Camera

People always ask me – do you bring your “big” camera with you everywhere? Ummm pretty much yeah. I mean why wouldn’t I? My kids pictures and our family moments are just as special as anything else I get to photograph. Afternoons like this make me so happy that I am that way. It was cool and windy and the kids were running around crazy, I was flying my drone (and kind of slow crashing it in the wind to avoid the water!!), and it was oddly desolate in April at Grayton Beach on this gorgeous afternoon (after a morning of tornado warnings). The kids fed the birds, which they usually aren’t allowed to (because no one wants to have the kids that throw crackers to the birds who are now pooping on everyone around us) since hardly anyone else was around, we showed them the pretty Portuguese man o’war jellyfish that had been washing up, and we drank Malibu and diet (everyone knows thats my fav) as we listened to Sam Hunt and danced around in the pretty white sand and then watched a breathtaking sunset.

What do I take? I usually put one of my cameras (take your back up if you are worried) and a wide angle (usually my 8-15 mm Fisheye) and a longer focal length (usually my Sigma Art 50mm) and put them in my diaper bag or beach bag and go. Nothing special but enough to cover the bases. And do I edit my family pictures? Um heck yeah! The same way I edit all my images honestly…I can’t wait to show my shooting & hand editing techniques – Kalli is almost done with my virtual portrait workshop….omg I am thrilled! If you want to sign up to find out about it when its released (I am thinking 1-2 weeks max) click HERE.

Wow! Amazing pictures of your beautiful family!! Your work was mentioned in a clickin moms breakout and I decided to check out your page last week and am so thankful I did! Your beach images are absolutely breathtaking. We live on the west coast and love spending time at the beach as a family.
