Obviously I am not a sports photographer but when we decided to take Grey and Olivia to the game on Saturday I thought, since I’d be bringing the camera for their annual game, I might as well bring a larger lens and see what I could get from our seats. By the kids “annual game” I mean we take them to one game a year-they can not be still but they like the games so we pick one we don’t mind leaving early-luckily we weren’t wrong, Charleston Southern was a blow out. So the kids had a blast, really, and have been begging to go back. Not sure if we can wing that but we shall see
I must say, I photograph receptions where people are dancing fast and crazy and am familiar with capturing fast movement, obviously, but these guys on the field-they freakin move. By move I mean I can not believe the shutter speed I had to have to stop the blur. Good things and bad things about photographing from the stands- Pros? No pressure, these are from the stands right? No competition for space. Cons? People’s heads get in the way-I mean ref-can’t you see I am trying to get a shot here?! And obviously you can’t get in the thick of it and move around the field. I have my fingers crossed for a press pass so we shall see and then it is on-I better produce, right?
Anyway whoever you cheer for, cheer hard and get your kids in on it-college football is an awesome tradition to have with your kids and let them grow up in tradition and be involved in something fun.
Olivia is to the left with the “7” jersey on and Grey is above her, held by Jon and of course, I am behind them taking them picture-no idea who chick standing on the wall is
