Star Wars Themed Room Makeover | Greyson’s Christmas Surprise

Grey is both Star Wars, Lego, and Football crazed (the football is a more recent obsession-hew definitely my child with this obsessive personality) so I figured we would go with Star Wars because I had seen that Darth Vader shelf in Pottery Barn (you may have see the debacle I posted on FB that I tried to order it like 3 days after I got the catalogue and it was a new product-first it said shipping in May and then it said Sold Out! but luckily some sweet thing found one for me in Texas-it was literally the inspiration for this project). We started by removing the curtain and replacing it with a wood blind to open up the room, painting the walls (which were a more beige grey before) a cool Ralph Lauren Silver Plated Metallic Silver, moving his tv, finding and refinishing another loft bed we found on Craiglist with black chalk paint (and the silver stuff shown on the video and in pictures below), new drawer pulls, Presley’s old furniture, the same FSU canvas’s that we had in there before (I shot them :), the Darth Vader Shelf, art work from Target and Hobby Lobby as well as metals of our family’s Halloween Star Wars theme and a metal easel of he and Olivia light saber fighting and some of his personal artwork – a painting of the Death Star, and finished off with bedding and sheets from Pottery Barn and a Millennium Falcon rug.

the in between:

We refinished his furtinute with black chalk paint and creme wax over. I used a mixture of wax, silver gilding, and a little dark varnish for the silver drawers and finished them off with new black knobs. I did something similar to Hudson’s nursery furniture with more detailed instructions HERE if you want to check it out!
